Rising covers the Thanos origins story. It was written by Jason Aaron. The art was by Simone Bianchi. I’m not a fan of how Riccardo Pieruccini colored the graphics. Everything is dark and moody which is supposed to match Thanos as the brutal killer that he is, but really it just makes everything murky in my opinion.Anyway, the story starts off with how Thanos’ own mother Sui San wanted to kill him when he was born. He grew up a loner and then found death and that’s how it all started.Overall I’m not sure how necessary this collection was. Anyone that knows Thanos can tell what’s going to happen.
Strong and solid book by Jason Aaron and quite a surprise in quality from Simone Bianchi. I typically hate his art style but I thought it worked perfectly with this character and the dark turns taken throughout the story.Aaron weaves a great origin tale to the Mad Titan just in time for Infinity and his brief cameo appearance in the Avengers film. This book introduces us to Thanos at his birth and shows how his villainy evolved from his sociopathic pre-teen years to how he became the genocidal maniac courting Death of today.
Take a pinch of bates motel and a cup of star wars, put it in a marvel blender and you have a thanos origins comic. If that sounds interesting check this book out.
I was really looking forward to reading this one. It's not great. It starts off really well, but just kinda peters out. It's actually kind of a sad story.
Good story. Art was a little too polished for my taste but well done. I wanted the back-story of Thanos, so I got this one. It didn't really let me in to any knew revelations as to the character, but was a fun read none the less.
A long, somewhat boring origins tale. It could have been done in about a quarter of the pages and it might have been interesting. Not recommended, unless you are really a hard core fan.
