I have been a fan of Abby Knorr's writing and her stories since The Returning, which was an amazing novella and well worth the read. After reading Born of AEther, it's hard to pick a favorite book, because each and every one of them boasts something unique and endearing, and completely original to it. AEther is no different. It does, to me, stand out above the others, perhaps because it is Knorr's most recent book and therefore her most recently written. Everything she seems to have learned before this is now at play. Knorr is quickly defining herself in this genre as one of the leaders, not only as someone who can weave together an amazing tale, but as a prolific writer who can craft a larger series and keep it together with what appears to be practiced ease. In AEther, the main character is strong and well defined, the stakes larger than life, the mystery perfect for this book and the action smart enough and harrowing enough to appeal to people of all sensitivities. Like her other works, there is enough romance to appeal to all readers, and there are enough "Awe..." moments to suck you into this incredible world she's created. I highly recommend this and all her other works to new readers, and I am anxiously awaiting her next novel, which I will purchase and read right away.

This series is spectacular. I first read it in April in about 24 hours, and have been waiting with bated breath for the next installment ever since. Born of Aether lived up to and surpassed my expectations. It certainly wasn't what I was anticipating; it was better.Akiko's story is the most mysterious out of the four. What with her isolation over the summer and laconic speech, we knew almost nothing about her until now. But whatever you were expecting, I can almost guarantee it wasn't this.This series is amazing. Good luck, and happy reading!

Each of the books, although standalones, all connect to each other through the friendship of a group of teen girls. Some books have been better than others, but they have all been decent reads.The writing style is good. The girls all have their unique personalities, and their own abilities that have developed. This book was a bit different than the prior books, because this Heroine is actually far older--even though she appears to be a teen. Each of these different Heroines have had their various issues. This book is a little sad, because this girl has been unhappy for decades.I find myself looking forward to the end of the series where the girls will finally reunite, but I gather that there is one more book to read before that final installment. I will continue reading.

Loved it! I read the first 3 books in this series (out of order but it didn't matter because they all happened at the same time) and really liked them. The stories are very interesting and entertaining. Akiko's story was awesome, I loved all the characters. Totally fell in love with Toshi and also with Yuudai even if I knew he wouldn't be for Akiko. I was a bit sad about how the story ended, super sad about Daichi even if he was a villain (kinda). I will continue the series because I'm definitely interested in seeing where the girls go after knowing what they can do and since they are all different it will be interesting I'm sure.Definitely recommend!

Akiko has been lying to everyone. They think she's their normal quiet girlfriend that lives with her overbearing grandfather. She keeps the secret until her 'grandfather' sends her on a mission to Japan that would mean her freedom if she succeeds.Another fabulous story in the Elemental Origins series. Ms. Knorr has a writing style that draws you into the story. She describes the scenes so well you feel like you're there. Action, mystery and a little romance (PG romance) that makes you want to keep on reading. I cannot wait until I can get Born of Air for when all the girl meet again.

I do in fact love Akiko's story. It is a bit unusual than the other girls of the Elemental Origin team but yet it has it's own charm and mysteries as well. And Japan has always been a fascinating place by itself for centuries. It would be truly great if we see more of Akiko's future adventures someday (in fiction books, anything can happen). And kudos with the author Abby L. Knorr as she is truly a great imaginative writer, by her own right. Truly a wonderful novel and highly recommended if you are into the fantasy urban legend category. Five stars all the way through.

The main book is far better writing and better editing than the bonus story at the end. The novel felt solid, with a compelling main character, a solid character arc, and was mostly well-edited and decently written. I had no issues with not having read others in series--definitely stand alone. I did catch one definite error that drove me crazy but was grammar, not story. However, the bonus story at the end needs proper attention and really isn't a bonus to a discerning reader at all.

So I’m in love with Japanese culture and obsessed with foxes. The opening scene with the fox and samurai had me hooked. The rest of the story unfolded really well and I enjoyed it, even though it is the first of this series that I read (I didn’t feel like I’d missed anything by reading out of order.) A satisfying read from beginning to end! I only wished grandfather had given her a more powerful reason behind his actions than personal vengeance. His past was tragic, but I still didn’t think it was a good enough reason for basically ruining decades of the lives of three people. But even with that wish, I loved it!
