Great aromatic candles are very near and dear to my heart. I absolutely love candles. To me, it is the best soothing and mood setting natural remedy out there. I have read a few books on how to make candles, but finding this book where I can learn how to make them aromatic and colorful with all natural ingredients is well worth the price of admission, which in this case is the price of the book. It is a well written easy to understand guide and I highly recommend every candle love to read this.

Candles are soothing and I love the smell of a few, but the ones I tend to love are somewhat pricey. Finding this book helps me come up with my own creation, I do plan to put this guidebook to use and a make a few candles with essential oils since those are the most healing and beneficial to your health. I am glad I found this book.

The title of this book should be altered to specify 'Soy Candle Making'. There is not much specific measurement and directional recipe information for other waxes. Very poor formatting: it reads like it was directly printed from a blog, ie: bulleted links with no way to access info, links listed consistently inside the text as part of the directions, black and white print color charts (an entire chapter on color with colorwheels and diagramming..... in black and white), so heavily opinionated pro-soy/anti-parafin that a hefty percentage of the text is not instructional or recipe based. Only instructs on liquid dye measurements, not flakes or chips. I don't feel prepared to make candles and now need to completely research directions and measurements online, outside of this book's offerings. Unprofessional for a book. Better off internet searching for specifics, because you'll end up having to do that anyway.

A very thorough book about candle making. I just loved the section on the wicks! Letting me know that it doesn't matter how beautiful the candle looks and smells, without the correct wick for the correct wax it won't burn well. So much information and then links to find supplies and other ideas, this book is a keeper if only for the references in the back.

This is a much better guide than the candles we made in Vacation Bible School as kids. They look and smell better too. Lol :) I love that they are so colorful and smell up your entire house. Well, at least it does that to mine. I had some empty containers from some other wax melts and some silicone trays and also made some wax melt thingys with the wax that I had left over. That way when I don't feel like burning a candle, I can just pop one into my warmer and my apartment still smells great. Plus, the candles make great gifts and you can customize them to whatever scent/scents your friends/family/co-workers might want unless you're surprising them. :) I highly recommend this book! And even if you're not crafty, like me, the directions are very easy to follow. As long as you can read the directions, you can do it! :)

Usually, I'm not too keen on reading guides, partly because the authors tend to make their writing rather cold and linear. However, Ally Russell's own passion and interest toward the candle-making world that was such a big part of her life is contagious, to say the least. This isn't just a guide, it is a quick and entertaining history lesson as much as it is a collection of vastly helpful tips and facts. I would recommend it for any person who is interested in making a profitable business out of their craft.

I love candles and got this book to learn more about candles and how I can make my own. This book was really informative and went into great details about the types of candles and how you can make them. But that is not what made me write this review, I was amazed to learn about the color wheel and how simple it is understood but how brilliant it is to use it to make such beautiful colorful candles at home. I think it is a true win-win to be able to make candles that are colorful yet very aromatic both done naturally without using any chemical. This is a winner.
