It's a great idea to get started with something simple and an object you can make repeatedly with decent success. Hooks do represent this efficient process. However, I feel as though I expected a little more of a tutoring from this book. It's another great source of information, but could've been a little more suggestive. While I don't expect any artist to give away his or her design secrets, perhaps a few other book designs to gradually challenge the skills of a budding blacksmith would have been a more complete text.

This book is so elemenary, so vague, that anyone, without knowledge of blacksmithing could acquire this information and knowkedge in 2 hrs or less watching any number of YouTube videos. Nothing what i expected, or is stated in the Amazon write-up. Big disappointment.

It is incredibly short. I paid the same amount for a book 100 pages longer and with 50 times more knowledge but if you want to make hooks and don’t need someone to hold your hand along the way, the book is informative. It gives you the nitty gritty of what you have to do and leave the artistic side of it to you except for basic hook design.

Why you should buy this book - The man is busting @ss to do what he he loves!Who is this book written for - guys like me - who have a forge and a hammer and hasnt purchased borax (flux) yet - the very beginner.Who is this book not for - guys who have been beating iron for six months - if you look at the cover picture and know how to make it - you should only buy this book to support his goals of not getting a 9-5 job.

With a title of hooks 101 I would have expected more then one example and one photo of another hook. But the information is good that's in there. Very very short read though...

Very informative book. I like the step by instructions. I would have liked instruction on other types of hooks, but overall it is a good book.

Not a lot of info I remember it being very short. Did like the cover a lot that was the best part

Not a lot of information here. Was expecting just a little more about how to make hooks. The whole book in a summary. Charge $11 per hook and make 9 an hour you got your money but it isn't that simple sorry.
