The book goes back & forth between when a rape happened to the present day. The back and forth goes on between Ellen/Olivia (the Mom of the accused) and Karina (the victim), but it's mostly between Ellen & Olivia. There is one other woman involved and that's Sasha. Sasha is a girl that ends up living with Olivia, Olivia's husband Tony & their 2 sons, Daniel & Nicholas when the rape happened due to her Mother wasn't able to care for her like she would like to. Sasha makes her Mother out to be one way, but she's really not. I guess that could be considered a lie...2 more to go, according to the title of the book anyway. It's more than 3 then...or at least that's the way I'm looking at it. If that's the case, then the title of book is even a lie! Right? LOLDaniel (Olivia's son) is accused of raping Karina. But they all (Olivia/Karina/Ellen (she just didn't know it at the time) & of course Sasha lie(d) in one way or another about the rape. But once I found out what the lies were...it just didn't "WOW" me. I was actually like ...so what! Those are the lies? Granted the lies did lead to a falsehood regarding the rape, but I guess I was just waiting for something bigger than what it was.The story starts out with Sasha making a disappearing act...Ellen who is/was Sasha's roommate is greatly concerned about this and to what may or may not have happened to her. Ellen calls the police (the police don't do much because Shasha has been known to go off without telling anyone in the past)...she calls & talks to anyone & everyone she can. And by doing so, the truth starts coming out.Again, not sure why this book is titled "Three Little Lies" when I think there was more than 3 lies told and it was more than 3 people that lied.

This is my second book by Laura Marshall. While I liked Friend Request, I liked this a better. This wasn't edge of my seat tension. But it kept me turning the pages.Told from POV of Ellen, via the present and also 10 years prior when Sasha and the Monkton's moved in. And Olivia (Sasha's godmother whom Sasha lives with) told 10 years prior during the trial of her son who has been accused of rape. And then near the end of the book we get one other POV'sI really liked the chapters of Ellen's from when the Monkton's first moved in. Ellen and her best friend Karina were immediately taken in with the Monkton's from the first moment they saw them get out of their car. They were so much more lively and colorful than their own "dull" families. Their home became Ellen's second home. That is until the events of New Years Eve 2006The present day POV of Ellen are her trying to find out where Sasha is and what happened. Since Sasha pulled a disappearing act when they were 17 years old, no one really thinks there is anything to be worried about, Not even the police. But as Ellen digs deeper into Sasha's disappearance she learns that she did not know Sasha as well as she thought she did and also piecing together what happened on the New Years Eve.I have to say I was more interested in the events that happened New Years Eve and the lies that were told, than I was in what happened to Sasha lol I was looking at everyone with suspicion in my eyes lol

Very well written, nice flow, good plot. Laura Marshall has in my opinion very recognizable style, even if I hadn't had a clue who the author of the Three Little Lies was, I would for sure point my finger on Marshall. That is sometimes a good thing, but for my taste it's also a minus.I like to be surprised, challenged, intrigued. And with this one I wasn't as much, since the characters were very similar to the ones in the Friend Request, the dynamics between them almost exactly the same and the many twists (not all) predictable. I for one could not connect to any of the characters, Ellen too naïve and irrational, Sasha too much of a bitch, Karina a typical clingy and self-conciouss girl.I did like how the author judged the sexual assault problem and the stereotypical blaim often put on the victims, this is a problem and should be highlighted whenever possible. So big thumbs up for this.My opinion on the book - not perfect, not bad, 3.5 stars.

I think the thing that I liked the most about this book is that it grabbed my attention right from the first page and I just couldn't put it down. I really enjoyed it immensely.

Really great read. Highly recommend this book. I was blown away by the ending. Had me on the edge of my seat as well.

I could not put this book down! Fantastic read

Could not put it down!

Three Little Lies by Laura Marshall is a thriller that as soon as I saw it I knew I had to read after loving Friend Request. The story is one that alternates timelines and points of view between the characters but is still easy to follow along with.In the present Ellen and Sasha have been sharing an apartment together for quite awhile and have continued their friendship since they were teens. The pair have a system of letting one another know where they will be so when Sasha doesn’t come home Ellen immediately worries. It doesn’t help that the man the two had helped send to prison years ago has been spotted in the area.Back in 2005 Ellen and Sasha had become friends when Sasha had moved into the neighborhood. Sasha had moved in with her godparents and their two sons and the family had welcomed Ellen into their home with open arms. Things ended up going a bit too far at a party that year leaving Ellen and Sasha to testify in a court case. The story is mostly told from Ellen’s point of view but does have a couple of others, one being the godmother of Sasha back in the past. It was one that was immediately engaging after learning of the missing Sasha and kept a steady pace as the secrets and lies of the past were uncovered. Definitely one I’d recommend checking out for the thriller fans if you get the chance.I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.
